Value Guard Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Value Guard collects, why, and the choices you have. Value Guard is made by EazyVerse Studio. If you have any questions, email us at hello@eazyverse.com.

The short version

Your vault (your items, warranties, receipts and manuals) lives on your phone. If you turn on backup, it goes into a folder in your own Google Drive, not onto a server of ours. To send warranty reminders, the app shares a short list of what is due with our reminder service: each item's name, brand and warranty end date. We collect usage and crash data so we can see what to improve and fix what breaks. We do not show ads, we do not use advertising networks, and we never sell your data.

Signing in

Value Guard uses Firebase Authentication for sign-in, either with an email address and password or with Google Sign-In. When you sign in with Google, Google shares your basic profile (your name and email address) with the app.

A small profile record is kept in Google Cloud Firestore: your email address, display name, and which sign-in method you used. Alongside it we store a pointer to your Drive backup: the folder's id, the Google account it is in, the time you last synced, how many files were in that sync, and a random id for the phone that made it.

What the app stores on your device

Everything you record lives in a database on your device:

• The items you own, with brand, model number, serial number or IMEI, category, room, purchase date, price paid, where you bought it and your notes
• The warranty terms you enter, including a separate term for each part
• Photos of receipts and warranty cards, and any PDF manuals or proof of purchase you attach

Attached photos and files are copied into the app's private storage on your device.

Google Drive backup and sync

Connecting Drive is optional and off until you turn it on. When you connect it, Value Guard creates its own folder in your Google Drive and keeps a backup there: your items, their warranties, and the photos and PDFs attached to them. The app asks only for the drive.file permission, which lets it see the files it created itself and nothing else in your Drive. With Value Guard Pro, a second phone signed in to the same account syncs through that same folder.

Because the folder is in your Google account, you can open it, copy it, or delete it yourself at any time, and you can disconnect Drive from your Profile in the app.

Scanning receipts

The receipt scanner finds the edges of the paper and straightens the photo using an on-device detection model. It runs on your phone and does not read the text on the receipt. The photo is not sent to us or to any service.

Warranty reminders

Reminders are sent by our own reminder service, so they arrive even when the app is closed and follow you to a new phone. For each item with a warranty, the app writes a reminder record to your account in Cloud Firestore:

• the item's name and brand
• the date its cover ends, and how many days before that you want to hear about it
• the reminder text, in your app's language

To deliver them, the app also stores a push token for each phone you sign in on, and the kind of device it is. Our service reads these records and sends the reminder as a notification through Firebase Cloud Messaging.

With Value Guard Pro you can also get reminders by email. When you turn that on, your email address is added to the reminder records, and the email is sent from our own mail server as reminders@eazyverse.com. Turn it off and the address is removed.

News and offers

If "News and offers" is on in Settings, your phone joins Firebase Cloud Messaging topics for your app language and for whether you have Pro, so we can send the occasional note about new features or offers. We see no list of who is subscribed. Turn it off in Settings, or turn notifications off in your device settings, to stop them.

Analytics and crash reporting

Value Guard uses Google Firebase services to keep the app working well.

Firebase Analytics records how the app is used, such as which screens are opened. Alongside this it collects device and app information, including your device model, operating system version, app version, language, a general region derived from your IP address, and a randomly generated app instance identifier. It is not linked to your name, email address or account.

Firebase Crashlytics records diagnostic information when the app crashes or misbehaves. This includes the stack trace, your device model and operating system version, and the state of the app at the time. We use this only to find and fix bugs.

Firebase Remote Config lets us adjust a few settings without an app update, such as how long the app waits before asking for a rating.

None of these are used for advertising. The data is processed by Google acting as our service provider, and Google's handling of it is described in the Firebase privacy documentation.

Value Guard Pro

Value Guard Pro is an optional one-time purchase sold through Google Play. Google handles the payment; we never see your card or payment details.

When you buy Pro, or restore it, the app sends the purchase token Google Play gives it to our server, which checks it with Google Play and records Pro on your account. We keep:

• a Pro record for your account ID
• a record of the purchase: the Google Play order number, a one-way hash of the purchase token, and the account ID it belongs to

The app also passes Google Play a one-way hash of your account ID with the purchase, so our server can tell which account a purchase belongs to without Google ever receiving your account ID. If Google Play tells us the purchase was refunded or cancelled, Pro is removed from the account.

Ratings and feedback

The app may ask whether you would rate it on Google Play, using Google's own in-app review, which we cannot see the results of. "Send feedback" opens your own email app with a message to us, and nothing is sent until you send it.

Permissions the app may ask for

• Camera - only when you scan a receipt or take a photo of a document.
• Notifications - for warranty reminders and, if you keep them on, news and offers.
• Fingerprint or face unlock - only if you turn on App lock. Android checks it; the app never receives your fingerprint or face.

Photos and files you attach are chosen with Android's own picker, which gives the app only the ones you pick.

What we do not do

• No advertising and no ad networks
• No selling or renting of your personal information
• No use of your usage or crash data for advertising, profiling, or resale
• No reading of the text on your receipts

Service providers

Google acts as our service provider for sign-in (Firebase Authentication), your profile and reminder records (Cloud Firestore), notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging), analytics, crash reporting, Remote Config, Drive access and Google Play purchases. Google's handling of that data is described in the Firebase privacy documentation. Our reminder and purchase service, and the mail server that sends reminder emails, run on a server we operate. Your Drive backup lives in your own Google account, under Google's terms with you rather than with us. Data held by these services may be processed on servers located outside your country.

How long we keep it

We keep your profile, reminder records and Pro record for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account they are deleted straight away. The one exception is the record of a Pro purchase (the order number and the hashed purchase token), which we keep so that Pro can be restored to a new account signed in with the same Google Play account; it no longer points to anything you can sign in with. Analytics and crash data expire under Firebase's own retention periods.

Your choices

• Edit or delete any item, warranty or document at any time in the app
• Turn off email reminders, or news and offers, in Settings
• Disconnect Google Drive to stop backing up, and delete the folder from your Drive
• Delete your account from your Profile in the app, or use Delete your Value Guard account and data
• Uninstall the app, or clear its storage in Android's App info screen, to remove the vault from that device

Children

Value Guard is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, where appropriate, let you know in the app.
